Chemical peeling is widely used in aesthetic biomedicine to promote controlled removal of the superficial skin layers and stimulate cellular renewal. Among the chemical agents employed, retinol stands out for its ability to interact with cellular receptors and promote keratinocyte differentiation. This study analyzes the efficacy and safety of retinol peeling in facial aesthetics, considering different skin phototypes. It is a descriptive and analytical literature review based on national and international scientific publications. The reviewed studies indicate that retinol, when applied according to skin type and proper concentration, improves skin texture, uniformity, and luminosity with a low incidence of adverse effects. It is concluded that mastery of skin morphophysiology and the biomedical professional’s technical knowledge are essential to ensure effective and safe results, highlighting the relevance of retinol peeling in contemporary aesthetic biomedicine.
