Abstract: Physiotherapy has assumed a central role in the recovery of high-performance athletes, especially in the post-competition period, when the body experiences functional overload, muscle fatigue, and increased risk of injuries. This study aims to analyze the contributions of physiotherapy to post-competition recovery in high-performance sports, highlighting its effects on pain reduction, performance improvement, and the prevention of recurrent injuries. The work is based on a qualitative approach, with an exploratory and descriptive character, using a literature review of articles, books, and official documents in the field of health and sports. The analyzed studies show that physiotherapeutic techniques such as cryotherapy, massage therapy, stretching, therapeutic exercises, and electrothermophototherapy resources provide significant benefits for athletes’ physical recovery. The results of the review indicate that physiotherapy contributes not only to immediate recovery but also to the maintenance of functional capacity and the prolongation of athletic careers when applied systematically and within a multidisciplinary framework. Furthermore, its importance in the psychological support of athletes is emphasized, as pain reduction and functional improvement foster confidence in returning to sports. It is concluded that physiotherapy is indispensable in the post-competition phase and should be integrated into multidisciplinary sports health teams, offering support for physical recovery, injury prevention, and performance optimization.
