Abstract

Abstract: Urinary incontinence is characterized by the involuntary loss of urine, mainly affecting women and older adults, compromising physical, emotional, and social well-being. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of electrotherapy as a therapeutic resource in pelvic floor rehabilitation. The guiding research question was: “Does electrotherapy significantly contribute to the reduction of urinary incontinence episodes?”. The methodology consisted of an integrative literature review, including articles published between 2015 and 2025, selected from scientific databases such as SciELO, PubMed, LILACS, and PEDro, prioritizing clinical trials and systematic reviews. The results showed significant improvement in pelvic floor muscle strength, reduction in urinary leakage episodes, and greater treatment adherence when electrotherapy was combined with strengthening exercises. It is concluded that electrotherapy is an effective, accessible, and safe strategy in the conservative management of urinary incontinence.
